I began oil painting at 10 years of age and continued through high school and college with some success in earlier shows and galleries. I began a career of building custom adobe homes in northern New Mexico in 1985.The business of building adobe homes took over and I dropped painting for 20 years until I met and built a studio for another artist. That artist saw my old works and encouraged me to pick up the brushes. I have since painted, drawn and found places to continue some growth as an artist. I first took a couple of workshops with artists Michael Lynch and Kevin McPherson who really kindled my love of outdoor painting. The search of beautiful spots in and around northern New Mexico are endless. Outdoor painting has become a way for me to express painting as well as enjoy nature on hikes and camping. I began entering local juried shows and showed paintings in galleries in Santa Fe and Boulder , Colorado. I was fortunate to meet and been critiqued on occasions by Wilson Hurley a masterful well known landscape painter. The last few years I have enjoyed painting more outdoors and studio painting of larger works and also enjoying entering juried shows of regional and national competitions in the Oil Painters of America and American Impressionists Society.
