Known for her expressive style and vibrant yet tranquil color palette, Sheryl Knight’s captivating oil paintings have earned accolades from prestigious fine art organizations, juried exhibitions, and major publications across the country. Having a passion for the landscape and just being outdoors has made Sheryl an artist who loves painting in the plein air tradition. Her indi vidual style and paint application is a constant theme throughout her body of work, creating a consistency that is uniquely her own. Drawn to the beauty of the California landscape she finds joy in the subjects all around her. “I love painting on location as I feel it brings out the true colors and at mosphere of nature. There is also a tranquility and a thrill that comes from painting from life, and I am always inspired by the wonder of creation.
Sheryl’s award-winning oil paintings have shown in group and solo gallery exhibitions, as well as many national juried shows and juried plein air ex hibits. She is a signature member in American Women Artists, Women Artists of the West, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and Outdoor Painters Society, and an Artist Member of California Art Club. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections including Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Solvang, CA,, and Dignity Health Hospital in Santa Maria, CA. She is currently represented by five galleries in Califor nia, and she belongs to a number of other national organizations including Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionistic Society.
Some of her most recent awards include five Plein Air Salon Awards, Best of Show Award, Award of Excellence, Merit Award, and the coveted Artists Choice Award. Sheryl has studied under many national artists including Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, Quang Ho, Ted Goerschner, Kevin McPher son, and Mark Boedges.
