Artist's Statement
The title , “Subsistence Of Life”, refers to the things being worn in this portrait of a Sioux Native….all a product of the minimal resources Native Americans needed for food, shelter or clothing. The Coyote headdress and Ermine, bearclaw necklace, feathers, all relate to the spiritual and mystical powers they believed these things possessed.
