Artist's Statement

Spring always brings about feelings of optimism and hope as the world awakens. Yet, this quiet scene isn’t about the exuberance of spring. The soft colors and textures don’t shout “look at me”. But they invite one to slow down with gratitude for a new season. They evoke a sense of serenity, calm, and contemplation.

We all have storms of life. We all have dark, cold seasons as depicted by the sky and distant mountains. Spring awakening is about the hope that comes as we emerge on the other side of those storms or seasons. It is about pausing to reflect and seeing the good. It is about contentment and being truly happy, a happiness that comes from within. It is about inner peace. It is about comfort and solace. There is a quiet assurance that all will be well. Because all is well.
