Rick J Delanty
“My job is to appreciate the power and beauty of God’s creation on earth—and I love doing that.”
California artist Rick J. Delanty is a plein air and studio painter with national and internationally-
recognized awards, painting in both oils and acrylics. The artist tells us, “Intuition and spontaneity play key roles in the development of my landscape paintings.
Expressive brushwork conveys my emotional response to that landscape, in my search to describe the essence behind the form. Subjects selected for painting are those that—for me– reflect truth, power, and life.”
Delanty was selected for the faculty of the national 2019, 2025 and 2026 Plein Air Conventions. He has also been selected seventeen times for the Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational, in which he was honored to receive the Boseker, Surfrider and Lifetime Achievement Awards. He has participated in the Borrego Springs and Maui Plein Air Invitationals, presenting lectures there on behalf of historian/author Jean Stern.
He is active as a Signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, the International Society of Acrylic Painters, the American Impressionists Society, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and Artist member and Chapter co-chair of the California Art Club.
His work is in the permanent collection of the Irvine Museum, Coutts Museum, and Hilbert Museum of California Art. He is a contributing author to Modern Impressionist Magazine, having written over a dozen painting “travelogues” for that publication. Delanty maintains a studio in San Clemente, California.
